Details

Considered one of the most sustainable sources to use as a growing medium or soil amendment, coconut coir (or “pith inch) is quickly becoming the most popular growing medium preference. Coconut fibers have a natural ability to help the uptake of plant nutrients. If you are looking for a high-performance, yield maximizing, and top shelf quality coco fiber, then look no further. You can tell that you are looking at an ultra high quality coco product when you see an “RHP inch logo stamped on the bag. It looks like the letters “RHP inchinside of a circle, located somewhere obvious on the bag. It is not easy for a company to achieve an RHP certification. So, just what is an RHP stamp mean, since it's so important to look for one when buying top shelf coco fiber products?

The RHP Foundation is a third party, coconut coir, potting soil, and mushroom compost product inspection and certification company, very similar to OMRI. They have been the central hub for knowledge in Europe about growing substrates and potting soils since 1963. Issuing only a few RHP certifications a year ensures that only the highest quality and completely disease and pest free products are sold to consumers. The certification means that the product stays consistent from manufacturer to the day the consumer buys it at the store. It also means the product was washed with imported, fresh water to ensure an ultra-low EC content. Non- RHP certified companies tend to use salty ocean water to wash their cheap coco fibers, resulting in a higher EC in the growing medium, stressing out your plants before you even fertilize! An RHP certification also means that no chemical residues are left over in the substrate from manufacturing, as usually happens with cheaper, non – RHP certified products.

House & Garden always manufactures high quality products, so combined with the RHP stamp you know you're buying only the best!
